1^ST ANNUAL PISD DUAL TOURNAMENT

Teams Attending: Austin Travis, Connally, Georgetown, Hendrickson, Pflugerville, Rouse, Vandergrift, Westlake

Format: Initial “pool seeding dual” based upon order of finish at 2010 District Meet.  This will be followed by 3 “round robin” duals against the pool in which you are placed.  This will be followed by a championship round matching 1 v. 1, 2 v. 2, etc… from each pool.  EACH TEAM IS GUARANTEED 5 MATCHES.

Weigh-In: 7:30

Coaches Meeting: Immediately following conclusion of weigh-ins

Wrestling Starts: Immediately following conclusion of meeting

Trophies: Awarded for 1^st, 2^nd, and 3^rd place at conclusion of final round.

Well we all survived the Doc Hess classic! Our boys did very well. We had 6 out of 14 JV wrestlers win medals and 6 out of 13 Rookie Division boys win medals as well. Also a shout out to Colby Zugg; he won 1^st place in the Varsity Division! Compared to last year…we had two jv medal winners! Way to go Vipers!

Practice starts next week again on the 27^th (Monday) and will run through Thursday from 9:00 to 11:00 am. Please be on time.

When we get back in January we will be doing some scrambling for JV matches so please be patient as we try to set these up and add changes to the calendars. It will be a good idea to check the web page often.

Hello Viper Wrestling parents,

This is finals week and our last competitive week until after the holiday. We will have practice this week Monday thru Thursday and then a team meeting on Friday. Check the December practice calendar for times.

Saturday we will travel to Bryan Texas for the DOC HESS classic. This will be our longest day of the year. We will have to leave at 4:30 am and will likely not get back until midnight!! Some of you veteran parents remember this day I’m sure!!

After Saturday we will take a week off and then resume practicing the 2nd week of Christmas Break. Those dates would be December 27th thru the 31st. The time would be from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. Again you can refer to the December practice calendar.  I hope you have a restful and happy break.

Greetings VWP’s,

Welcome to the weekly newsletter section of my webpage! We are trying to keep you as informed as possible – so if I leave out areas of concern please email or call me with other concerns.

Well to start lets cover last weeks’ wrestling:

Wednesday we went to Vista Ridge and wrestled their “C” team. We were very victorious there to say the least.

Next we wrestled A & M Consolidated JV for four matches – we won all 4! We also dueled ourselves and your sons looked very good for first time action!

After that our varsity wrestled A & M Consolidated Varsity and we lost but in total matches only lost by 3.

Friday we went to Cedar Park to wrestle in the CPJV tournament. What a great night that was! We entered 28 wrestlers and finished with 8 1^st’s; 6 2^nd’s and 8 3^rd’s!! Again another strong showing for Viper Wreslting!!

Saturday we were in the Akins Duels and had yet another victorious day! We placed 2^nd and went 4 and 0 in pool play- we beat Harker Heights, Mc Callum, Austin High and Vista Ridge B; losing only to A & M Consolidated in the finals match!

This weeks’ wrestling:

Wednesday we will wrestle at home Vs. Mc Callum and Pflugerville! We will have 2 mats going at the same time. One mat will be for varsity and one for JV. We would love to pack the gym with parents and fans! Please attend! Also we will be running a concessions stand that night and will need parents willing to help. Friday we will all travel to Killeen for the Eagle Invitational. There will be two sites – the varsity will be at Ellison High School and the JV will be at Shoemaker High School. If you pull up this weeks’ flyer information you can get the addresses for these two schools.

Wrestling will start at 9:00 am. Hope to see you this week!
